everytime she comes in with a new dress or a new hairstyle the boys blow kisses and whisper things like 'goddess'. masks are mysterious and being someone else is called beautiful this time. her teeth, artificially white, try to out-glare the blondness of her hair while she's talking. she tries not to mind they're just listening because of her cherry lips, boosted with chemistry.

sometimes a boy is running his hands down her stomach, touching her hips, pressing together the bones poking through. his tongue squeezes through her lips and she clenches a fist to bear the disgust she feels. 'you mustn't cry', she keeps telling herself, 'this is called love'.

at night she misses something to cuddle, but plushies are for babies. the girls laughed at her when they saw her teddy. them friends cut off its ears and broke its tiny arms, then they threw it away. her bed had seemed empty since then, but she'd get used to it. she was used to tons of things -
even being hurt.
